”This Euromediterranean, North-South project had as its Utopian model the “Andalusian Paradise” (711-1492) of a perfect Muslim-Christian coexistence” (Bat Ye´or) – under “the tolerant sway of Islam”
On this video you can see how multiculturalism is changing Andalusia today into a screaming Arab bazar with EU support. This is what the EU has in store for us.
Great efforts are being made to physically tunnel the Strait of Gibraltar to connect the EU with Morocco: Spain has now agreed with Morocco to build a train tunnel under this Strait. The work has been handed over to a Swiss firm. In 2004 a guess of an extra 500.000 illegal refugees annually this way was made – a figure which will probably prove too small. Because of technical problems the work seems to be finished only in 2025.
The romantic dream
”The Vision that members of these 3 cultures not just live peaceably side by side but exchange memories and common intellectual and national endeavours is irresistible. I wanted to cry when (I read that) Ferdinand and Isabella expelled the Jews and the Muslims in 1492. It felt like a personal loss.” (Reader about Maria Rosa Menocal : The Ornament of the World) ,
Idyllic coexistence in Golden Andalusia.
“We have been living together for centuries in peace and harmony. The Jewish, Muslim and Christian worlds came together here (Andalusia) more than ten centuries ago… all parties on many occasions have proven how it is possible to live together. This is a tremendously valuable heritage for us which leads us to ask the following question: If it was possible then, why is it not possible today? “(Rosa Torres Ruiz, Councillor for Culture, Regional Council of Andalusia, Spain before Michael Gorbachev´s World Political Forum 2005 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Barcelona Euromediterranean Declaration).
”Under the guidance of the Qur’an, the spread of Islam and its dominance over previously Christian or pagan lands was “breathtaking”. Over centuries it founded an Empire, leading the world in discovery, art and culture. We look back to the early Middle Ages, the standard bearers of tolerance at that time were far more likely to be found in Muslim lands than in Christian,” (Tony Blair).
But: In reality Al-Andalus 711-1492 represented a terrible night-mare: the land of Islamic Jihad par excellence. ”Andalusia’ Without Camouflage”, Andrew Bostom
The Iberian peninsula was conquered in 710—716 C.E. by Arab tribes…. A classical jihad, the conquest proceeded with enormous pillaging, enslavement, deportation, and massacre. Most churches were converted into mosques. Massive Arab and Berber immigration and colonization ensued. Toledo, which had first submitted to the Arabs in 711 or 712, revolted in 713. The town was punished by pillage and all the notables had their throats cut.
Spanish lore has it that when the Moors attacked Santiago de Compostela St. James suddenly appeared and defeated the Moors – thus saving his own tomb from desecration. Hence he was dubbed Matamoro – the Moor-killer.
In 730, the Cerdagne (in Septimania, near Barcelona) was ravaged and a bishop burned alive. In the regions under stable Islamic control, subjugated non—Muslim dhimmis —Jews and Christians— like elsewhere in other Islamic lands — were prohibited from building new churches or synagogues, or restoring the old ones. Segregated in special quarters, they had to wear discriminatory clothing. Subjected to heavy taxes, the Christian peasantry formed a servile class exploited by the dominant Arab ruling elites; many abandoned their land and fled to the towns. Harsh reprisals with mutilations and crucifixions would sanction the Mozarab (Christian dhimmis) calls for help from the Christian kings. Moreover, if one dhimmi harmed a Muslim, the whole community would lose its status of protection, leaving it open to pillage, enslavement and arbitrary killing. Thus citizens of Toledo, Cordoba and other towns were punished according to Koransura 5:33 by crucifixion or cutting of a foot and a hand (Bat Ye´or Eurabia.)
In 732 Charles Martell saved Europe from Islam by stopping the invading Muslim hordes at Poitiers. But the Muslims of Al-Andalus regularly sent expeditions to France to pillage and rob slaves for their harems and military. In 778 Charlemagne therefore invaded Spain accompanied by Oliger le Danois (still sleeping!) and Roland – but they were beaten. In 793-94 the invading “religion of peace” was beaten in France by French King Louis I.
By the end of the eighth century, the rulers of North Africa and of Andalusia had introduced rigorous Maliki jurisprudence as the predominant school of Muslim law. Thus, as Evariste observed, three quarters of a century ago: “The Muslim Andalusian state thus appears from its earliest origins as the defender and champion of a jealous orthodoxy,… suspecting and condemning in advance the least effort of rational speculation.”
Present day Al-Andalus is a contagious illusion of romantic poets
Gotthold Lessing (1729-81) saw Islam as the natural religion. “How big men Islam has produced”, he exclaimed. He called Islam the “Age of Enlightenment” and saw Islam as important for our culture as Rome and Greece. He is the father of todays eurocratic islamomania.
He defined tolerance as the will to respect and dialogue, which had to lead to recognition. Exactly this is the EU attitude today. Voltaire disgusted Muhammad. In 2004 the German President Johs. Rau participated in the celebration of Lessing´s 225. anniversary, because Lessing is a “prophet” for todays endeavorus to promote Islam. But already before Lessing the so-called “litterary love for the Moors” existed due to antipathy against Inquisitional Spain. It developed into a a collective fanaticism and contributed decisively to the “ Cult of Arabism” of the 18. and 19. centuries.
Court of Lions at Alhambra
In the 19. century Washington Irving´s “Tales of Alhambra”, Louis Viardot, Chateubriand , and German poets produced romantic poetry about Moorish Andalusia. This aroused the Arab Elite which had never given Al-Andalus a thought. Arab poets took over and made Al-Andalus the pride and yearning of the Muslim Umma – parallelled later on by the Palestinian dream. This was due to the Arab poet, Zaki, who described Al-Andalus as Milton´s Paradise Lost. In 1922 Kurd Ali wrote ”Al-Andalus is an everlasting proof of the unusual gift of the Arabs for science!! and … Arab-Muslim Spain was the school of the Christian Western world.“
La dolce vita in “Golden Andalusia”
But These uneducated Arab beduins, who burned the ancient Library of Alexandria with its invaluable writngs were uneducated barbarians in the course of their rapid conquest of the decadent provinces of the former Roman Empire and other areas. They had to adopt the already existing cultures of the Mesopotamians, Persians, Indians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Jews, Iberians etc. The truth is that these cultures were the school of the Muslims.
And “Al-Andalus was no ideal society as for the relation between the religions.”
Golden Andalusia viewed from the Jewish and Arab sides
Until the 1967- war the Jewish view of Al-Andalus was very positive. After that rather negative views have been adopted (Bat Ye´or e.g.).
”The myth about Spanish-Islamic tolerance was promoted by Jewish scholars to whom it served as a cane to beat their Christian neighbours with” (Bernhard Lewis).
Mark Silverberg is a Jew who today praises Al-Andalus: “Then the Europeans sucked knowledge at the feet of Jews and Muslims”!
Muslim Beig Twinz : Christian kings (Frederic II and Roger II of Sicily) cultivated Islamic culture and were dubbed “Sultans of Sicily”. He sees Al-Andalus as the gate of the ”Golden Renaissance” – beginning with Dante´s Divine Comedy. In this view he is supported by Muriel Weissbach of the Schiller Institute: “Andalusia was the heartblood of a culture full alive and kicking and flourishing in Europe from 711-1492.
The Return of Islam to Al-Andalus
A Spanish judge has delivered guilty verdicts on some of the 28 people from the “religion of peace” accused over the 2004 Madrid train bombings, which killed 191 people and injured 1,800.Jamal Zougam and two others were sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of each of the 191 victims and 20 years each for every one of the 1,800 injured.
Today Islam is rapidly re-establishing itself in Andalusia with heavy support from Spain and the EU. On Sunday, April 18, 2004, this revealing exchange took place between outgoing Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, and interviewer Chris Wallace of FoxNews:
Chris Wallace: “In the apartment that was blown up, police found a videotape in which the bombers referred to Spain as Andalusia, what it was called by the Muslim Moors before they were driven out in 1492. ”Jose Maria Aznar : “So this means that Iraq, for them, was just a pretext. In the eyes of Islamic terrorism, it looks at the West, and Spain is a very special part of this parcel, because they feel that to recover Spain is to get back some of their territory.”
The Andalusian Legacy Foundation is supported by the Cultural Ministery of the Regional Council of Andalusia: “Our basic idea was to…. inform ordinary people so that they realize being heirs to the Spanish-Muslim past” says Páez, a busy lawyer in private. ”In particular, we wish to make it known to schools and young people in order to have them take this culture as their own!”
7 “routes to Granada” , connect places of historical significance . They comprise the Almoravid, Almohad, Umayyad and the Caliphate routes. The latter goes 180 kilometres from Cordoba to Granada. “The aim of these cultural travel routes is to spread the knowledge about the history of Al-Andalus and its relations with Africa and the Arab world.”, Paez explains. “We thought this Andalusian inheritance could become a cultural counterpoint with the other shore – in particular Morocco. This year during the spring holidays about 300.000 people travelled the Caliphate route.”

From the Cathedral/former Grand Mosque of Cordoba
The Cathedral, the former Grand Mosque of Cordoba: Spanish Muslims wrote the Pope on Christmas Day 2006 – encouraged after the prayer of the Pope in the Blue Mosque in Istanbul – asking for permission to pray to Allah in the old Mosque of Allah (The Guardian 28.06.2006). A refusal had already been given them earlier this year. The Muslims said they did not intend to take over the building or to find a nostalgic Al-Andalus. Rather they tried to reintroduce the “spirit of Al-Andalus”!
Granada and Islam today
”They see Granada as the capital of Islam in Europe,” says Ibrahim Perez Tello, a member of the Muslim community.”
On July 10 (2003) a festive international crowd of dignitaries and visitors braved scorching heat to attend the
opening of the mosque of Granada. To repeated cries of “Allahu Akbar!” (God is Great), Shaykh Sultan ibn Muhammad Al-Qasimi, the governor of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and the primary patron of the project, drew a red curtain to display a gray stone plaque dedicating the Mezquita de Granada
The School of Arab Studies operates in a 14th-century building in the Albaicain quarter. The institution was founded in 1932 in association with the University of Madrid, and it grants degrees up to the Ph.D. More mundane is a
business that exports halal-slaughtered chickens to Muslim countries.
The EAMS – the Euro-Arab Management School . “Our motto is bridging cultures. Tourism management is very important. We are training the trainers; there is a great shortage of them.” The European Commission and the Arab League started EAMS in 1995.
The Euro-Arab Foundation of Higher Studies is another organization dedicated to promoting dialogue and cooperation between Europe and the Arab world. In the same old, palatial building is the HispaMaroc Association, a Moroccan student establishment associated with the Chamber of Commerce in Madrid.
EFE, the official Spanish government news agency, in 1995 opened an Arabic-language service center in Granada. “
“Golden Andalusia” is a symbol, the EU´s multicultural society model for the illuminist Euromediterranean Empire , the leader of the “New emerging World Order” which is to start with the upcoming Euromediterranean Common Market from 2010. In that Empire a new cohesion is to be forged without “us” and “them” (Anna Lindh Foundation) – without European national feelings and without Christianity, whereas unalterable Islam, which is being imported to Europe at breathtaking speed, is meant to prevail – and we to be, nay are already – dhimmis.
