1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. 2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid. 3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean. 7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. 14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us. (Isaiah 17).
While geneva negotioations on Syria are leading nowhere the regional wardrums in and around Syria become louder and louder. Syria is in ruins – only Damascus remains in part intact, but it is now also under attack. It seems that the whole country is to become a heap of ruins.
Ghouta/Damascus Nov. 2017
Reuters 27 Nov. 2017: On Monday, 13 shells hit government-held Damascus and its surrounding areas, Syrian state media SANA reported.
At least 147 have been killed by air strikes and shelling since the Syrian army, with Russian air power, began the offensive to take the besieged rebel-held Eastern Ghouta nearly two weeks ago
The enclave has been besieged by Assad forces since 2012, but the siege has become far worse in recent months since routes used to smuggle in food were shut. Residents are so short of food that they are eating trash, fainting from hunger and forcing their children to eat on alternate days, the U.N. World Food Programme said in a report last week.
Activist Post 24 Nov. 2017 By Brandon Turbeville While the United States continues to pant wildly and promote disproven claims of chemical weapons, Assad’s alleged “brutality,” and the SAA’s supposed “crimes against humanity,” the fighters it has funded since 2011 are engaged in the very definition of terrorism in Damascus as we speak. For nearly two weeks, terrorists surrounded in areas like Jobar and Ghouta have been launching missiles and mortars indiscriminately at civilians in old and new Damascus.
As travel blogger, photographer, and writer, Ilir Morina (who is currently in Syria) wrote on November 9, Yesterday and today Damascus has been under heavy attack from terrorist mortars. There have been many casualties. The sounds of war seem constant between the terrorist attacks against civilians and the Syrian Army attacks against the terrorists.
These are the sounds the people of Damascus have heard for over six years. Not just the sounds of course. Along with the sounds came the ripped bodies of loved ones and neighbors. The destroyed homes, schools, businesses.
In fact, it has increased in frequency and intensity.
Sputnik 18 Nov. 2017 Over the past months, the shelling of Syria’s capital by Daesh militants has intensified, with the latest incident occurring on November 16 killing one person and injuring another 13.
According to the source, the shelling has caused significant material damage.
The Times of Israel 26 Nov. 2017:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Syrian President Bashar Assad that Israel will intervene militarily in the Syrian civil war if Assad gives formal permission to Iran to establish a military presence in Syria, Israeli TV reported on Sunday night.
Iranian base in Syria acc. to Haaretz 16 Nov. 2017
According to an unnamed Israeli official, under the Syrian ceasefire deal, militias associated with Iran would be allowed to maintain positions as close as five to seven kilometers (3.1-4.3 miles) to the border in some areas, Reuters reported two weeks ago.
However, now Assad offers Israel a demilitarized zone of 40 km – which Netanyahu will accept.
Before that Netanyahu had told Putin, Russian Defence minister Shoigu, and French Pres. Macron the same message: Israel will intervene in Syria, if Syria invites Iran to habe base there.
The rising tensions, an Iranian military commander declared on Thursday that any future war in the region would result in the annihilation of Israel acc. to Ali Jafari, the commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.”
Global Res. 27 Nov. 2017 In mid-November, Netanyahu addressed the Jewish Federation of North America’s General Assembly. He repeated a long ago discredited canard, saying:
“Iran is scheming to entrench itself militarily in Syria with the declared intent of using Syria as a base from which to destroy Israel.”
He called on the international community to counter a nonexistent Iranian threat – vowing to act alone if necessary, threatening war on Syrian and Iranian forces in the country.
Stephen Lendman asks: “Will Israel follow through on its threatened response? Will it risk confrontation with Tehran and Moscow? Will Washington intervene on its behalf, risking greater war than already?”
Israel and Saudi Arabia have allied in preparation for war on Iran – and a leaked cable betrays that these 2 countries will provoke this war .
NATO generals have stated that Israeli war on Iran´s ally Hizbollah is inevitable
This comes as Netanyahu desperately tries to have a law passed to grant him immunity amid increasing accusations of corruption – and as the US declares to stay as an occupational force in Northern Syria for decades – after its allies, ISIS has been defeated. Of course Russia and Syria oppose
